Taking responsibility for decisions now seems secondary to laying blame elsewhere. Good character and common sense has gone out the window, along with a sense of fair play. Political powers are leading the way in laying blame and the media reports what serves them best, so, why do we put up with it? Our children deserve a better future, better role models and that means, us, doing better. It’s in our hands.
Fair play is primarily not blaming others for anything that is wrong with us.
Eric Hoffer (American moral and social philosopher)
Eric Hoffer also said, “A mass movement attracts and holds a following not because it can satisfy the desire for self-advancement, but because it can satisfy the passion for self-renunciation.” A lot of movements today have huge followings, so is everyone unhappy with themselves? Is it easier to go along with a movement than to change yourself? If we changed ourselves would there be a need for a movement?
“Take your life in your own hands, and what happens? A terrible thing: no one to blame.”
Erica Jong (American novelist, satirist, and poet)
It’s in our hands.
